Druckwerkstatt
Today we visited the Druckwerkstatt (print workshop) at BBK in Kreuzburg, Berlin. It is in part of an old hospital and the workshop boasts 16000 square metres of space filled with a loads of printing and media production equipment. There’s an amazing paper making workshop in the basement where they make quality artists paper and even a special restoration paper that just 2 gsm. We thought this was a translation problem and didn’t believe it until we saw it. It costs artists in Berlin just 8 euros a day to use the equipment as well as to have the support from the technicians running each section. They had some great artwork around the place done by some of the artists that have worked there over the years. It even has a film cutter that was used by Joseph Beuys!
