The Future of Ink on Paper

The Royal College of Art initiated a 3 year research project called RCA/Print Digital, which investigates the future of print and culminated in a limited edition, digitally-printed book called Control Print.

"If ‘quality’ is to be a fundamental reason for print to exist, and ‘environmentally sustainable’ the watchwords in production,

DOES THE DIGITAL PRESS REPRESENT A RETURN TO THE SENSIBILITIES OF A TRADITIONAL ‘CRAFT-BASED’ INDUSTRY, PRINTING MATERIAL OF BEAUTY ON DEMAND FOR THE MOST DISCERNING AUDIENCE?

This research explores this question from the perspective of a ‘creative practitioner’, by placing emphasis upon the importance of human skill and intervention in a process which has been hijacked by automation."

See the Control Print website and download the book for more info.
