Screen printing workshops

One day workshop

Our 8 hour workshops include a vegan lunch, materials, 10 T-shirts or 25 sheets of quality paper and the supervision/help of one or two professional screen printers, depending on the size of the group.  Additional t-shirts/sheets of paper may be purchased if required.

We aim to tailor the workshops as much as possible to peoples personal needs and ability levels. We encourage people to contact us beforehand to let us know what they would like to get out of the workshop so that we can help them achieve this.

What you will learn

We specialise in the use of high quality water based inks for screen printing onto garments. The course goes through the entire screen printing process from preparing art work to creating the finished article and the course is as 'hands on' as possible.

In the morning you will learn how to select the right type of screen and have a chance to wash down and coat your screens. You will learn to prepare your artwork, with particular attention paid to artwork resolution, half tones and colour separation. You will then learn about the different type of inks and have a go at mixing your own colour(s) for printing in the afternoon.

After lunch students learn how to expose the screen(s) with their design, multi-colour registration and printing technique with particular attention to the different kinds of inks, squeegees and printing effects. You will have a chance to print at least ten T-shirts or 25 art prints/zines with your own design. For T-shirt printing you will learn how to dry your garments to achieve a full cure.

It doesn't stop there. We send everyone home with an information sheet detailing the reagents required for screen printing and the suppliers we use.

After the workshop we provide an advice line, free of charge and encourage people to contact us with any screen printing related problems they may have.
