I Dress Myself was founded at a time when environmental threats were known but talked about by very few and acted on by even fewer. We were the first to only offer sustainable garments and to only use solvent-free water based inks for screen printing onto textiles and paper. Of course, there are many aspects to a business and there is always more work to do.

We did not understand the urgency, as we do now. Based on the scientific facts known today, it would be unethical to continue without declaring the climate emergency and acting accordingly.

We, the Directors at I Dress Myself, take full responsibility for our environmental impact and recognise that we must continually strive to reduce and negate this. All team members are encouraged to play a part in improving our practices and efficiency. Climate impacts will continue to be prioritised in all key decisions but with greater urgency.

The evidence is compelling – 97% of climate scientists agree that humans are causing recent global warming. It is no longer morally acceptable to “carry on as normal”. The more businesses that declare a Climate Emergency, the more pressure there will be on other organizations to follow suit.

This Climate Emergency requires immediate and radical action by all businesses. We need to be honest about our business practices and the dire situation our planet is now in. We need to be open to rapid and far-reaching change and change needs to be talked about by everyone.

We need to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and to zero by 2050 to limit warming to 1.5 degrees
